Where to Dance in Victoria

Swing City

Run by Denny's Canned Music for over 13 years, Swing City is a social dance including all styles of ballroom! Held on most Friday nights at the Edelweiss German Cultural Center in James Bay, there is always a free one hour dance workshop to kick-off the evening. The dance is on Fridays with the doors opening at 7:45pm and a beginner lesson from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Social dancing is from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am.

Price: $10 per person.

Cafe Casablanca

Cafe Casablanca, located on 2524 Bridge Street, is Victoria's only latin dance restaurant. It is the best place to go if you are looking for a night of salsa dancing. Doors open at 8:30pm, and there is a beginner salsa lesson from 8:45-9:30pm. Social dancing is from 9:45pm- 1:00am dancing to Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha and more. All ages welcome.

Price: $12.00 per person + $2 min charge at the cafe.

Red Hot Swing

The Saturday weekly social dance is the place to go to strut your stuff on the dance floor. Total beginners are always welcome; a drop-in beginner lesson will have you dancing swing in no time. Neither partner nor experience are required, but pack a spare sense of humour! Following the lesson, the dance features fantastic jazz music perfect for dancing the night away whether you’re mad about lindy hop, charleston, balboa, or collegiate shag. We’ll have a live band on the last Saturday of every month, otherwise you’ll be able dance to the very best DJs’ toe tappin’ tunes. Time: 8:30pm doors open and drop-in beginner lesson starts at 8:35pm, then social dancing from 9:20 until midnight.

Location: Bert Richman Building (4105 Lambrick Way) at the Gordon Head Rec Centre.
